The brother of Jason Childers, Matt Childers started 2007 with a 4-1, 3.41 record for the Ottawa Lynx before being suspended 50 games for violating the drug prevention and treatment program in Organized Baseball. He started 2009 with the Rakuten Golden Eagles farm team and was called up to NPB on June 20th.
