 Biographical Information
Matt Reynolds made it to the big leagues in 2010.
Reynolds had a 10-3, 3.26 record at Austin Peay in 2007. The Colorado Rockies chose him in the 20th round of the 2007 amateur draft. Reynolds was signed by scout Scott Corman and began his pro career that summer. In his pro debut, he was 1-4 with a 3.60 ERA and only 4 walks in 35 innings for the Tri-City Dust Devils. In 2008, Matt was 6-2 with two saves, a 2.53 ERA and .226 opponent average for the Asheville Tourists.
The Knoxville native split 2009 between the Modesto Nuts (5-3, 3 Sv, 1.29, .180 average in 39 G) and Tulsa Drillers (1-2, Sv, 4.21 in 21 G). Baseball America rated him as Colorado's 27th-best prospect and as having the best control of any minor leaguer in their system.
Reynolds opened 2010 with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, going 1-3 with 7 saves, a 2.62 ERA and 67 whiffs in 55 innings. He was then called up after they let Brad Hawpe go. In his MLB debut, he relieved Manuel Corpas with a 2-0 deficit in the 8th against the Dodgers with one on and one out. He retired James Loney on a fly and Casey Blake on a three-pitch strikeout.
