Matsuyama is the birthplace of Kenta Abe, Masaru Kageura, Kenichi Kageura, Shigeo Mori and Sadayoshi Fujimoto. Matsuyama Shogyo High School and Botchan Stadium are located here. The 2008 Women's Baseball World Cup is being held in Matsuyama.
