Matsutaro Shoriki Award
From BR Bullpen
The Matsutaro Shoriki Award is given annually to the player or manager who contributed the most to Japanese baseball by the Yomiuri Group. It was first given out in 1978 and is named after Japanese baseball and media pioneer Matsutaro Shoriki. In 2004, Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners won a special award. In recent years, it has gone to the manager of the Japan Series-winning team on a regular basis.
