[edit] Biographical Information

In Marv Foley's last major league at-bat, he grounded out to end Mike Witt's perfect game on September 30, 1984.

Foley had won Gold with Team USA at the 1974 Amateur World Series. In 1990, Foley played in the Senior Professional Baseball Association for the Fort Myers Sun Sox; he played in 8 games and batted .321 when the league folded.

In 1997, Foley became the only manager to win championships in all three US-based AAA leagues. Foley won the International League with the Rochester Red Wings in 1997, the American Association with the Iowa Cubs in 1993, and the Pacific Coast League with the Vancouver Canadians in 1989. As the American Association was eliminated after the 1997 season, to match Marv's feat someone with an AA championship will have to still be managing in the minors.

Foley was the Chicago Cubs bullpen coach in 1994 and the Baltimore Orioles first base coach in 1999. Since 2006, Foley has served as the Colorado Rockies Minor-league catching coordinator (as of 2011). In 2013 the Rockies added a "development supervisor" position for each of its minor league affiliates. Foley was tabbed for the Asheville Tourists in that role.
