Marty Clary was signed as a 3rd round pick in the 1983 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves and scout Stu Cann. He came out of Northwestern University, where he attended at the same time as pitcher John Trautwein. In the minors from 1983, he went 14-9 for Greenville in 1984 and was with Richmond for part or all of each season from 1985 to 1989. Clary spent parts of three seasons in the majors with the Braves.
