Pitcher Mark McCormick was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2005 amateur draft. He made his pro debut that summer with the New Jersey Cardinals, making 2 starts and allowing no earned runs before being promoted to the Swing of the Quad Cities, where he went 1-2 with a 5.48 ERA in 9 starts. He returned to the Quad Cities to start 2006, going 2-4 with a 3.78 ERA there, and ended the year by making a pair of starts for the Palm Beach Cardinals, allowing 5 earned runs in 4 innings.
