Catcher Mark Haley was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 26th round of the 1977 amateur draft but chose to attend college instead.
He spent over a decade as a coach in the Chicago White Sox organization as a coach. He was a coach with the South Bend White Sox (1991-1992), Sarasota White Sox (1993), Hickory Crawdads (1994), South Bend Silver Hawks (1995), Prince William Cannons (1996), and Winston-Salem Warthogs (1997), where he managed for 49 games. Haley managed the Hickory Crawdads in 1998. Returning to coaching he was at Winston-Salem in 1999, 2001-2002 and the Great Falls White Sox in 2003-2004. Haley has been skipper of the South Bend Silver Hawks since 2005. He was named manager of the year in the Midwest League and Player development man of the year for the Arizona Diamondbacks (2005 season).
He currently resides in South Bend, IN with his wife Ann, daughter Kelli and son John-Ross.
