He stayed mainly at third baseman, pitched and showed versatility by playing some outfield and other infield positions. He was a team captain his sophomore season.

He went on to Wichita State University being part of Head Coach Gene Stephenson's first recruiting class. Injuries prevented him from finishing his baseball career with the Shockers, but he did end up getting his undergraduate and Masters at WSU.

In the 2011 season, KWU won both the KCAC League Championship and the Tournament and advanced to the National Tournament again in Lubbock, TX. They lost the championship game to Lubbock Christian University who ended up being the NAIA World Series runner-up. Carvalho was named Coach of the Year for the 2011 season.

His record through three years at Kansas Wesleyan is now 104-58 and overall it is 338-225 and has the most wins by any Head Coach in KCAC Baseball history.

He also has been involved as a GM/Coach for summer baseball teams in the Walter Johnson League located in Kansas since 1997. The names have changed (Firebirds, Rattlers, Team Elite, Elite-Sluggers and now Salina Blue Jays), but they have been successful with making the NBC World Series for four summers.
