[edit] Biographical Information
While playing for the Newark Bears of the International League in 1939, pitcher Marius Russo met his future wife, Stasia, when she approached him for an autograph. He joined the New York Yankees later that year. In 1941, he pitched a one-hitter and made the All-Star team. After the 1943 season, he spent two years in the army in World War II, entering in February 1944 and being discharged in January 1946. He returned to the Yankees briefly in 1946.
He died at age 90 in 2005.
