Mario Lemieux

Mario Lemieux is considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the National Hockey League; some contend he ranks #1. A fan favorite for decades with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he then became owner of the Penguins. Lemieux's involvement in baseball included part-ownership of the Altoona Curve and State College Spikes with Chuck Greenberg, later owner of the Texas Rangers. In 2009, Lemieux and fellow Penguins owner Ron Burkle made an offer to Bob Nutting to buy the Pittsburgh Pirates but were turned down.
