Marcus Jensen won an Olympic gold medal for the United States in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In the 1999 Pan American Games, he had played a key role in helping the US qualify for the Olympics by hitting .300 with a team-high 3 home runs and 9 RBI. He scored the winning run in the 10-inning game against Mexico that clinched the Olympic berth for the Americans. In the Gold Medal game against Cuba, he drove in Milton Bradley with the US's only run off of Jose Contreras.
