Márcio Sakane was one of the youngest players in Brazilian national team history when he pitched in the 1999 Pan American Games at age 16. He was 1-1 with a 11.00 ERA in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, allowing 15 hits in 9 innings. He was with Brazil for the 2003 Pan American Games. In the 2005 Baseball World Cup, he was 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA. The loss was a tough one as it came in the 15th inning against China; Sakane had thrown five scoreless innings preceding it and Brazil had finally scored in the top of the 15th before Sakane gave up two in the bottom of the inning. In the 2007 Pan American Games, he allowed two runs in 1 2/3 IP.
