[edit] Biographical Information
Mandy Brooks was an outfielder who played over 100 games for the Chicago Cubs between the 1925 and 1926 seasons. He did well as a rookie, hitting .281 with 25 doubles and 14 home runs in 349 at bats as the Cubs' most-used centerfielder. However, he slipped to a .188 batting average (in only 46 at-bats) the next year and was out of Major League baseball for good.
In the 1960s, he was confused by biographers with a John Arthur Bux who died in 1962, and the wrong man's death details were listed next to his name for years. More recent research concludes that he lived until 1976 in his native Milwaukee, WI where he is buried.
