Catcher Mandy Romero was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 19th Round of the 1988 amateur draft. He led the Carolina League in 1990 with 90 RBI and finished second to Greg Blosser (18) with 17 home runs while playing for the Salem Buccaneers.
Romero's brother, Andy Romero, played several seasons in the minors.
