Prior to 1991, Major League Baseball defined a no-hitter as "an offical game in which a pitcher, or pitchers, gives up no hits." The following is a list of the games that were offical games at the time and were declared as no-hitters and games in which a pitcher or pitchers lost a no-hitter in extra innings.
