Magnus Höglund was a long-time member of the Swedish national team. He was on the Swedish team that won Bronze at the 1993 European Championship, earning the team a spot in the 1994 Baseball World Cup, their first Baseball World Cup trip. During that World Cup, he gave up 8 runs, 9 hits, 6 walks and 2 wild pitches in 6 2/3 innings while only striking out one batter. In the 1995 European Championship, the right-hander went 1-0 with a 1.98 ERA.
In the 2003 European Championship, Höglund was 1-1 with a 0.61 ERA to lead the Swedish staff. In the 2004 Elitserien, he had a 1-3, 4.26 record and allowed a .330 average. During 2005, he went 4-0 with a 1.76 ERA. During the 2005 Baseball World Cup, the 43-year-old surrendered 19 hits (including 4 homers) and walked five in 10 innings while striking out two. He had a 0-2, 9.00 record for the event, losing to Canada and South Korea. He was 0-1 with a 3.79 ERA in 2006 in the Elitserien and did not play in the 2007 Elitserien.
During the 2007 European Championship, the old-timer was listed as a player-coach for Sweden but did not get into any games. In the 2008 Elitserien, the 46-year-old gave up 10 hits and 6 runs in 4 innings.
