Major League Baseball African Academy

The Major League Baseball African Academy was started in 2011 to help develop young prospects from across Africa. African prospects had attended the MLB European Academy from 2005-2010. The first camp included 40 players from South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Cameroon, Zimbabwe and Kenya. Instructors at the first African Academy included Rick Magnante and Lee Smith.
