Luke Nelson pitched 24.3 innings for the 1919 New York Yankees, in the year before Babe Ruth showed up in New York. Luke was a year older than the Babe and a year younger than Wally Pipp.
He was with Toledo in 1920 and went 18-5 for Peoria in 1921.
