[edit] Biographical Information
Catcher Luke Sewell, in addition to playing 20 years in the majors, is also remembered as the manager of the 1944 Browns, the only Browns team that went to the World Series.
Brother of Hall of Famer Joe Sewell and Tommy Sewell, and cousin of Rip Sewell.
Sewell also spent several seasons with Cleveland as a coach and one season as a coach in Cincinnati. He was a minor league manager from 1954-56, the first two years with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the final year (partial) with the Seattle Rainiers.
