Luis Ugueto is considered by some to be the best defensive shortstop who ever played in CPBL.
He hit .222/.391/.389 for the Tigres de Aragua in the 2008 Caribbean Series. He joined Danesi Nettuno well into the 2008 Serie A1 season, replacing the injured Frank Menechino. In the 2008 European Cup in Regensburg, he was one of Nettuno's top performers, hitting .421/.500/.789 with 6 runs in five games for the Silver Medalists. He saved his best for last, going 4 for 4 with 4 runs and 3 RBI in their Gold Medal game loss to FC Barcelona. Ugueto went 2 for 5 with 4 walks and 2 runs to help Nettuno win the 2008 European Cup Final Four.
