Luis Rivera peaked at AAA.

Rivera signed with the Chicago Cubs in June 2004. He split 2005 between the AZL Cubs (.282/.339/.330 in 27 G) and the Peoria Chiefs (.348/.366/.348 in 25 G). In 2006, he was with the Chiefs (2 for 25), then was let go by Chicago. Signed by the New York Mets, he finished the year with the Hagerstown Suns (2 for 9) and Brooklyn Cyclones (.272/.314/.304). The middle infielder struck out once per 10.67 plate appearances, the lowest rate in the New York-Penn League. In 2007, Luis played for the GCL Mets (6 for 29, 3B), Savannah Sand Gnats (.254/.290/.304 in 47 G) and Binghamton Mets (.316/.409/.351 in 18 G).

With the 2008 St. Lucie Mets, Rivera batted .222/.251/.273. He split 2009 between St. Lucie (5 for 39, 2 2B, 2 BB) and the Buffalo Bisons (.316/.356/.353 in his 46 AAA games). He started 2010 back with Savannah and hit .217/.250/.233 in 21 games. Retiring as a player, he remained in the Mets chain as a coach for the Kingsport Mets in 2010-2011.
