After signing his first pro contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1962, former catcher Luis Isaac has been in the Cleveland Indians organization since 1965. He was a player/coach in the minors from 1973 to 1977. In 1978 he began the year as coach of the Portland Beavers and ended it as manager of the Batavia Trojans, leading the team to a 34-38 record. Isaac was a coach with the Chattanooga Lookouts in 1979, and was scout from 1980 to mid-1987, while coaching rookie league teams. He was the Indians' bullpen coach from 1987 to 1991 before spending two seasons coaching in the minors with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (1992) and Charlotte Knights (1993). He returned as the bullpen coach of the Indians in 1994 and has held that position ever since.
Luis' cousin Juan Lopez is the bullpen pitcher for the New York Mets.
