Luis Roberto Clemente

The son of Roberto Clemente and brother of Roberto Clemente Jr., Luis Clemente was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1984. When three Pirates scouts came to Puerto Rico to sign Clemente, Luis's uncle encouraged them to take a look at Clemente's friend Orlando Merced. The Pirates signed Merced, a move which paid off. The next season he played second base briefly for the GCL Pirates, going 4 for 17 with 2 walks and 2 RBI. It was his sole performance as a minor league player. Like his brother, he would devote his life to charities fulfilling his father's wishes.
