[edit] Biographical Information
Luis Alicea was signed as a 1st round pick in the 1986 amateur draft by the St. Louis Cardinals and scout Marty Maier. He primarily wore number 18 during his major league career.
After his playing days ended, Alicea managed the Lowell Spinners in 2004 and 2005 and was skipper of the Greenville Drive in 2006. After the '06 season, he became first base coach of the Boston Red Sox.
His brother, infielder Ed Alicea, played several seasons in the minor leagues. His cousins Melvin Falu and Irving Falu also played in the minors.
