Luis Perdomo is a pitcher who made his debut with the San Francisco Giants in 2009.
Originally signed by the Cleveland Indians, Perdomo debuted as a pro in 2003 with the DSL Indians, going 1-0 with a save and a 4.35 ERA in 14 relief stints. In 2004, he went 4-2 with 6 saves and a 1.35 ERA, allowing only 21 hits in 33 1/3 innings for the DSL Indians. Back with the club for a third year in 2005, the 21-year-old was 3-2 with 7 saves and a 3.57 ERA, striking out 45 in 45 1/3 innings.
Perdomo played for the GCL Indians in 2006, going 0-2 with 9 saves and a 3.79 ERA in 18 relief appearances. He struck out 29 batters in 20 innings of work. He was second in the Gulf Coast League in saves. In 2007, he played for the Lake County Captains, going 4-6 with 10 saves and a 3.27 ERA in 56 relief appearances, second in the South Atlantic League. He had 81 strikeouts in 66 innings of work and only gave up 43 hits. He split the 2008 season between the Kinston Indians, Akron Aeros and Springfield Cardinals (he was traded to the Cardinals organization on July 26, 2008 for Anthony Reyes). Combined, he went 7-3 with a 2.36 ERA in 55 relief appearances. He struck out 82 batters in 72 1/3 innings.
He was selected by the Giants in the Rule 5 Draft following the 2008 season and made his debut with the team as a relief pitcher on April 15, 2009.
