Louis Hofer

Louis Hofer has had a long career in Dutch baseball. Hofer was a catcher and third baseman whose career began in 1962. He became an assistant coach with De Spartaan in 1981 and later coached for the Amstel Tijgers, Amsterdam Pirates and Kinheim as well as teams in Eerste Klasse and the lesser leagues. He spent 332 games and 9 seasons as a head coach.

Hofer retired after the 2004 season, when he was an assistant with Kinheim, but he returned to action as an assistant coach in 2005. In 2006 and 2007, he was head coach of the Amsterdam Pirates. He stepped down after 2007 and was replaced by Rikkert Faneyte, who led Amsterdam to the 2008 Holland Series title. Hofer returned in 2009 as Faneyte's first base coach.

2009 will be Hofer's 48th year in Dutch baseball, his 27th as a coach.
