Lou "Weaser" Scoffic was up in the majors in 1936. He appeared in four games, hitting .429. One might have thought that hitting .429 would be enough to stick, but manager Frankie Frisch had a pretty good team that year which included Joe Medwick and Johnny Mize.

In March 1936 he made a trip with the Cardinals to Cuba, where the team played against Habana and Almendares.

Scoffic had played minor league ball as early as 1933, and in 1935 hit .342 for Bloomington. In 1936, after his time with the big-league 1936 Cardinals, he hit .320 for Rochester and the next year hit .326 for Rochester.

He played 12 seasons in the minors, compiling a batting average of .296. All his time was with teams affiliated with the Cardinals, and he managed in 1940 and 1942 in the organization.

After baseball he worked as a coal miner.
