Lou McEvoy pitched for the New York Yankees in 1930 and 1931. He was one year older than teammate Lou Gehrig.
On May 23, 1930, McEvoy and Mark Koenig threw baseballs at West Point as a test so that Army experts could measure the speed. McEvoy threw at the rate of 150 ft./sec, while Koenig was not quite as fast.
He played for the 1928-1930 Oakland Oaks before he came to the majors, winning 22 games in 1929.
He died of cancer.
