Live Oak Taylor played 2 games for the 1877 Hartford Dark Blues at the age of 26, and then years later played 41 games for the 1884 Pittsburg Allegenys in the year of three leagues. Bob Ferguson was his manager in 1877, and Ferguson was also manager for part of the season in 1884.
A SABR biography of Ted Kennedy indicates that after the 1884 season, Taylor was induced to join an Omaha club which became part of the Western League for part of the 1885 season.
He died in 1888 at the age of 37.
