Lino Díaz was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 30th Round of the 1993 Amateur Draft. He coached for Panama in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. He is the brother of Einar Diaz.
Lino was a player-coach for the 1998 Indianapolis Indians, a coach for the 1998-2000 GCL Reds and a coach for the 2001 GCL Royals. He was Cultural Development Coordinator for the Cleveland Indians in 2002-2003. From 2004-2006, he was Cleveland's Assistant Director, Player Development & Latin American Operations, then directed their Latin American Operations in 2007-2009. He returned to the role of Cultural Development Coordinator in 2010-2011.
