[edit] Biographical Information

Lil Stoner pitched for nine years in the majors. Half his appearances were starts and half were in relief.

He broke in under manager Ty Cobb and played for him from 1922-26 on the Detroit Tigers. After Cobb ceased to be the manager, Stoner remained for three more years on the Tigers under managers George Moriarty and Bucky Harris. He finished out his big-league career with brief appearances in the National League.

He had come to the Tigers originally from the Western League and also pitched in Birmingham in 1922.

In the late 1930's he played for a semi-pro team in Enid, OK.

SABR has a biography of him.
