[edit] Biographical Information

Outfielder Leo Posada was signed by the Milwaukee Braves in 1954 and came up to the majors to play three seasons with the Kansas City Athletics, serving as the regular left fielder in 1961.

Born in Cuba in 1936, he is the uncle of Jorge Posada. During the 1958-59 winter he played for Almendares as a teammate of Tommy Lasorda. The book The Pride of Havana says that Posada "came of age in the 1960-61 winter" in Cuban baseball.

Posada managed the 1968-1969 Cocoa Astros, 1973-1974 Cedar Rapids Astros, 1975 Fort Lauderdale Yankees, 1976-1977 Columbus Astros and 1978 Daytona Beach Astros.

A story in the August 9, 2003 New York Times says that Raul Mondesi used Posada as a hitting coach early and late in his career.
