Lennie Merullo played shortstop for the Chicago Cubs for seven years in the major leagues in the 1940's. He appeared in three games in the 1945 World Series.
Lennie came up briefly in 1941, and then in 1942-45 won the shortstop job. Stan Hack played third, and Phil Cavarretta played first. In 1946, Billy Jurges, Bobby Sturgeon, and Merullo shared the shortstop position, but in 1947, Merullo had it back most of the time.
He spent 25 years as a scout and 25 more as the top scout of the Cubs.

- Grandfather of catcher Matt Merullo, who had a six year career in the majors, mostly with the Chicago White Sox.
