Catcher Len Okrie debuted in the minor leagues in 1942. He then missed the 1943-1945 seasons in military service.
After his playing career ended, Okrie became a manager in the Boston Red Sox chain. He managed Bluefield to the Appalachian League' best record and playoff title in 1954. He was a Red Sox coach in 1961-1962, then was a coach for the Red Sox again in 1965-1966. He moved to the Detroit Tigers organization in 1967, and was a coach for the Tigers in 1970. Overall, Okrie managed 15 years in the minors, compiling a 914-1013 record.
He also managed the 1962 Florida Instructional League team for the Boston Red Sox, who were 17-30.
Len is the son of Frank Okrie, and the brother of Bob Okrie, minor league outfielder from 1944 to 1949.
