After his baseball career ended, Lefty Wallace returned to his home town and worked for the Evansville Police Department from 1953 to 1974, and for the Vanderburgh County (IN) Sheriff's Department from 1974 to 1979. He was known as an expert in polygraph tests, fingerprinting, crime lab procedures, crime scene preservation and gathering evidence at crime scenes.
