[edit] Biographical Information
Larry Rothschild pitched in the minors for eleven seasons and made seven big league appearances with the Detroit Tigers in 1981 and 1982. All of his appearances occurred in September call-ups. In 1981, four of the five games he appeared in were against the Cleveland Indians.
After his playing career ended, he was a roving instructor for the Cincinnati Reds (1986-1989), and coach of the big-league Reds (1990-1993) and Florida Marlins (1995-1997). He became the first manager of the expansion Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1998 and remained with the club until 2001. Since 2002 he has been the Chicago Cubs pitching coach.
