Larry Monroe had one career decison in the major leagues; it was a loss on September 30, 1976 as a member of the Chicago White Sox against the California Angels. He started the game, going 5 innings, giving up 6 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), walking 2 and striking out none. The White Sox lost the game, 7-3.

As of 2008, Monroe is in his 34th year with the Chicago White Sox, currently as an advisor to the baseball department. He has also been vice president of scouting and minor league operations (1990-94) and vice president of free agent and major league scouting (1994-2006).

His son, Grant Monroe, was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 38th round of the 2007 amateur draft.
