Catcher Larry Howard, who played four seasons in the majors, had a notable rookie year when he hit .307/.378/.443 in 1970.
He backed up Johnny Edwards in 1970-72. On the Astros, he was one year younger than Joe Morgan and one year older than Bob Watson.
He played for Caracas in the winter league of 1970.
