[edit] Biographical Information
Larry Christenson made his major league debut at the age of 19 on April 13, 1973. He pitched a complete game against the New York Mets, leading the Philadelphia Phillies to a 7-1 win. Though plagued by injuries, he went on to pitch for the Phillies for 11 seasons, 5 of which the team won division titles.
He pitched his first major league shutout on July 19, 1975 - a 1-0 win over the Houston Astros.
Larry hit 11 home runs in his career, including 2 in one game against the Mets on September 5, 1976. He also hit a grand slam in the Phillies' division-clinching 15-9 win over the Chicago Cubs on September 27, 1977.
