Kyung-moon Kim was a catcher for 10 years in the Korea Baseball Organization, coached for nine and managed since 2004.
Kim debuted in the KBO's first season, 1982, with the OB Bears, hitting .217/.265/.255. In 1983, he batted .205/.277/.308, followed by a .240/.305/.302 campaign in 1984. The next season, Kim had a batting line of .190/.301/.228. In 1986, the Bears backstop produced at a .183/.233/.222. He hit .263/.325/.307 in 94 games in 1987 to set a career high in OPS.
In 1988, the Korea University alumnus posted a batting line of .261/.288/.327 and peaked with 14 doubles. Kim hit .211/.259/.251 in 1989. He moved to the Taepyungyang Dolphins in 1990 and batted .231/.276/.286. Back with the Bears in 1991, he batted .133/.162/.195. In 700 games in KBO, he hit .220/.274/.274 with only 6 homers in 1,494 AB.
Kim became a coach with the Samsung Lions in 1994 and spent three years with them. He moved back to the Bears in 1998 and coached them through 2003. In 2004, he became manager of the club (now called the Doosan Bears).
Kim managed the South Korean national team in the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament and 2008 Olympics, in which the team won the Gold Medal.
