Kyle Landis made his professional debut in 2007.

Landis was 3-2 with one save and a 4.63 ERA as a freshman at Pitt. The team's only pitcher with a winning record, he led with 21 appearances. He struck out 57 in 56 1/3 IP. In 2007, Landis led NCAA Division I in ERA for around half of the season, going as low as 0.33. He finished 4-4 with six saves and a 2.12 ERA. In 51 innings, he struck out 58 and allowed 39 hits. He made the All-Big East Conference third team and led Pitt in ERA. The Cleveland Indians took Landis in the 18th round of the 2007 amateur draft.

Kyle debuted professionally with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on June 21, working a hitless and scoreless inning, walking one and striking out two. Through 12 games, Landis had allowed only one run in 17 2/3 IP for a 0.51 ERA. He was 1-0 with four saves, 20 strikeouts and a .190 opponent batting average.
