Kingston is located in the eastern part of the province of Ontario, Canada, at the point where Lake Erie narrows to become the Saint-Lawrence River. It is 110 miles south of Ottawa, ON and was briefly the capital of Canada, in alternance with Montreal, QC, until the upstart lumber town of Bytown took over the function in 1867. It is now renowned for its unique combination of universities, Canadian Forces bases, and penitentiaries. Queen's University is located here. Bob Elliott was born here.
