Kila Ka'aihue, the 2008 Texas League Player of the Year, was called up to the Kansas City Royals on September 2, 2008. He made his first MLB appearance as a pinch runner for Jose Guillen on September 4. He stayed in the game as the DH but failed to get an at bat.
His brother, Kala Ka'aihue, plays in the Braves system. His father, Kala Ka'aihue, is a former minor leaguer as well.
