Corner infielder Kevin Eberwein was drafted in 1995 by the Cleveland Indians in the 53rd round, but didn't sign. Three years later, he was taken in the 5th round by the San Diego Padres. He spent five years in the minors, each of them in the Padres system, reaching AAA Portland in 2002. He hit .254/.334/.456.
