The son of former Florida Marlins skipper John Boles, Kevin Boles was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 42nd round of the 1998 amateur draft. Boles hit .206 in only 34 AB for the Williamsport Cubs in 1998 as a reserve catcher.
Boles began managing in 2000 with the GCL Marlins. He was a coach for the GCL Royals in 2002. Boles was the Field Manager of the Fort Myers Miracle of the Florida State League for the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Boles resigned his position with the Fort Myers Miracle and the Minnesota Twins organizations in October 2007, and shortly thereafter, he became skipper of the Greenville Drive in the Boston Red Sox system.
