Pitcher Kent Peterson reached the big leagues as an 18 year old with the Cincinnati Reds in 1944. After missing the next two years due to military service during World War II, he played five more years with the Reds and two with the Philadelphia Phillies. He died at age 69 as the result of a car accident.
