[edit] Biographical Information

The son of Dennis Holmberg, Kenny Holmberg was picked in the 49th round of the 2001 amateur draft. He did not sign and moved on to college. Baseball America named him as their All-American shortstop for a NAIA school in 2005 after he hit .342 with 8 homers and 60 RBI as a senior. The Milwaukee Brewers then drafted him in the 22nd round of the 2005 amateur draft. He was assigned initially to the Helena Brewers, where he hit .372/.450/.623. He led the Pioneer League in OBP and slugging, homered 12 times (three less than league leader Chris Cook), drove in 51 (three less than leader Russ Mitchell) and was second to Corey Wimberly in average. As he was old for the level, Baseball America did not name him as one of the league's top 20 prospects. Wimberly beat him out for the league All-Star team spot at second base.

Holmberg hit .235/.362/.398 for the West Virginia Power in 2006, being sidelined for a spell by injury.

Kenny coached for the 2009 DSL Rangers 1 and managed the DSL Rangers in 2010-2011. He was a coach for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2012 and managed the AZL Rangers in 2013-2014.
