Ken Oberkfell played 16 years in the majors. He was primarily a third baseman although he also played over 400 games at second base. He appeared in the 1982 World Series and the 1989 World Series.
Beginning in 1995 he started on a long string of seasons as a minor league manager. Oberkfell was named bench coach of the New York Mets on June 17, 2008, replacing Jerry Manuel who had been promoted to interim manager when Willie Randolph was fired.
