[edit] Biographical Information
Ken Huckaby was the All-Star catcher in the 2001 Baseball World Cup, hitting .429/.474/.486. He also played first base in place of Ben Broussard when Josh Bard caught.
He is possibly best known for a collision with Derek Jeter on March 31, 2003, that caused Jeter to miss six weeks while recovering from a dislocated shoulder. It came when the infield had shifted for a Jason Giambi at-bat: Giambi grounded out to the pitcher, Jeter tried to go from first to third, but Huckaby, who ran to cover the unmanned bag, collided with him there and tagged him out.
